Principal's Message

Hello Cleveland Families,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new principal of Cleveland Elementary School.  I am very excited for the 2018-19 school year at Cleveland and joining this extraordinary school community. Cleveland is recognized as a school with outstanding students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a very supportive school community.   I feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of this school community and to be able to work to support the students and the families of our school.

The 2018-2019 school year will mark my 33rd year in education. I am alumni of Butler University, B.S. in Education and Concordia University, MEd.Admin./Admin.Credential. I began my teaching career in Indianapolis, Indiana and then moved to Long Beach, CA. My teaching experience with LBUSD has been as a classroom teacher, reading intervention specialist and coach, and as an English Language Learner specialist. The last two years I have been an assistant principal. Although I have always felt at home in the classroom, it is in my position as an administrator where I feel I have a bigger impact in education. As principal this provides me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to young students learning and growing in the classroom. I firmly believe that success lies in believing that TOGETHER...we can accomplish greater student achievement, greater commitment to learning, and an inviting place to come and learn.

                                                       Appreciatively,

                                                       Kim San Jose, Principal
